- To maintain ecological balance, protect biodiversity, and raise environmental awareness among students, the environmental organization Tori Bangladesh (Bijoynagar Upazila Branch) distributed tree saplings to all students of Champaknagar Model High School in Bijoynagar, Brahmanbaria.
The distribution took place on Wednesday morning (September 9) at 10:00 AM in the school playground following the morning assembly, where saplings were handed over to all students free of cost. The program was joint-hosted by Md. Sadekul Islam Bhuiyan, Convener of Tori Bangladesh (Bijoynagar Upazila Branch), and Shamim Ahmed, a teacher at the institution.
Addressing the event, key speakers included Sohel Rana Bhuiyan and Sushanta Pal, members of the Central Convening Committee of Tori Bangladesh; Md. Zohirul Islam, Acting Headmaster of the school; and Alamgir Hossain, Member Secretary of the Bijoynagar Upazila Branch.
The event was also attended by Acting Headmaster Md. Mostafa Kamal Uddin Chowdhury, alongside organization members Kazi Lokman Hossain, Rubel Mia, Shahjahan Sarkar, Kamrul Islam, Junaid Hasan, Opu Chandra, and Rumena Begum.
During his speech, Sohel Rana Bhuiyan stated: “Protecting the environment is not the sole duty of an individual or an organization; it is a collective moral responsibility. By handing saplings to students, we aim to instill a sense of responsibility for nature conservation alongside tree planting. Tori Bangladesh will continue its community-driven efforts to protect the environment, rivers, nature, and biodiversity.”
Other speakers highlighted that along with planting trees, taking care of and nurturing them is essential to tackle the impacts of climate change and maintain ecological stability.
